"A walk from our industrial past -
To our environmentally friendly future."
Duffryn River Pathway.
Westside and Forgeside Tenants and Residents have created a riverside walk which has seating and lovely stone engravings. It is a great place to sit and eat your sandwiches and watch the wildlife. This was achieved with the help of a £54,000 Cydcoed –Woods for All grant from the Forestry Commission Wales programme, funded by the European Union (Objective One) and Welsh Assembly Government,
An existing path was already a favourite with dog-walkers and is a regular haunt for bird watchers and anglers.
Volunteers worked alongside local contractors to selectively clear the site, plant new trees, stabilise the riverbank and put in seating as well as putting in a pushchair friendly pathway.
The photographs below were taken in late May 2012.
